160 Trash Filters will Be Installed in C. Jakarta

Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department has installed 160 trash filters at some connecting channels in order to minimize inundation and flooding, especially in densely populated areas.

Some connecting channels which will be equipped with trash filter are Probolinggo and Anyar River in Menteng, as well as Petamburan 4 in Tanah Abang.
Cleanliness Dept to Take Over the Handling of 13 Rivers in CityHead of Trash Management Section for Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Niman Kaning disclosed his side had difficulties to clean up trashes in channels around citizen residential. Therefore, the trash filter must be installed in each channel of the river.
"There are still many locals throwing trash into the river. That's why we is going to install trash filter in the channel," he expressed, Friday (12/19).
He explains trash filter installation will simplify the janitor to pick up trash. "Thus far, its installation has reached 90 percent, like Tanah Abang and Kemayoran," he told.
Kaning urged citizens care about the environment by not throwing trash into rivers or channels. "Although the tool has been installed, it doesn't mean people can throw trash freely. But we hope they pay more attention to the cleanliness of their environment," he stated.
